So, I saw this getting passed around and shared everywhere on Facebook; you might recognize it. I was just wondering, does this make any sense? I mean... My personal opinion is the way the economy works, sure, gas prices will drop however many cents because of the sharp fall in demand for that one day, but won't that loss of money on that day be made up for steadily over time, yielding no real net difference to consumers at all?

I'd just like to hear some intelligent opinions on this, because I'm by no means well versed in the nuances of this concept.

Remember that kid in elementary school that was like "if we allllll refuse to go to class, they can't punish alllll of us!"

This reminds me of that.

I guess I'm gonna have to say it... if you don't buy gas on April 15, you'll just end up buying it April 16. If you want to boycott the gas prices, then just stop buying altogether. You're going to have to give up your car and rely on a bicycle, public transportation or your own two feet.

Too bad- It would be nice to have gas randomly drop $.30 cents. I pay nearly $4 a gallon.

(I know this isn't too crazy, my sister pays nearly $5)

Yup. Simply drive less. And don't give me the "but I live in a rural area and neeeeeeed to drive eeeeeverywhere!" crap. If that's the case, take the time to plan out your trips. Don't run out to the store for one thing when it can wait until you do a big shopping. Don't go out to dinner every single night. Better yet, trade in your F850 and get something that you can drive into town without burning up an entire Triceratops in the process.

On a slightly related note, does anyone know of any reliable guides to convert the modern day car engine to run on diesel/used vegetable oil?

How exactly should we go about not pumping gas on April 15th, 2011? I'm pretty sure I already pumped gas on that day.

Just saying that their protest seems hard to do since the date has already passed.
