I totally agree with the studio trickery part with Alex's vocals. It's pretty evident in Cute and BLG's albums so I wasn't sure if Squire would be the right man for the job. But he pulled it off overall. I too was expecting more lyrically after hearing songs like Jasey Rae and The Party Scene, but it's a decent album regardless.

The Party Scene is still their best release to date.
Yep.

I still haven't heard their first EP, but from you've told me I don't want to.

It's hard to really throw Put Up Or Shut Up into the mix though considering it's mostly songs off of The Party Scene, plus two new songs.

this record has SO MANY great lyrics. dear maria is one hook after another. and stay awakes "dedication takes a lifetime but dreams only last for a night". This cd is covered in clever lyrics
To each his own. I think I'm outgrowing this style of music, because that's just not what I would call clever.

It's still a decent record, and I hope they get all the good they deserve.

Wait...the glory days of pop-punk were the early 2000s?

remembering sundays lyrics kinda tell a story, a very interesting one

amazing song too, 60 plays on my media player
That's the one song I could put on repeat and not get sick of. I've been anticipating the mastered version of this song since the YouTube videos began showing up back in December. They were wise bringing in Juliet Simms into the song, as well.

I completely disagree with this rating.

The Party Scene's quality/production pales in comparison to Put Up Or Shut Up and Put Up Or Shut Up is better track for track than So Wrong....I guess its all a matter of opinion.

Their first EP isn't really that great, it's quite good to have I guess but it's nothing special at all.

I really like this album, just very good pop-punk.

My thoughts exactly...This album reminds me of the HTL cd (great sing-a-long cds), i really like the sound but nothing groundbreaking

their lyrics were never good half of them on put up or shut up sound like they are copied and pasted from pete wentz's notebook.

that being said. I like this album for what it is: fun pop punk.

can you even call "the party scene" an official release? its more of a compilation of glorified demos that didn't even come out on a real label. most kids don't even know the party scene existed.

Seems to me this is, in keeping with Rohan's prediction as to fan response, a monotonous, generic and out-dated album. I thought PUOSU was great, but I can't get into the album.

It's the old Matt Squire/Hit The Lights great EP/lackluster follow-up syndrome. I can't say I expected any better though.
My thoughts exactly! This album has no lasting value.
