I get when people are busy, I mean, I work and I am in school. So sure there are moments I can't respond, but at the most it takes me 2 hours to respond, or the next morning if i'm already asleep. I ALWAYS respond that day.

I have acquaintances who say crap like "We should hang out" or "We need to get together soon" and tell you to take their number then don't respond back. I'm sick of people who don't respond to texts but post shit on twitter and facebook. Especially sense I know the people have no lives and are sitting on their phones all day. I've basically developed a 3 text rule. I refuse to send more then 3 texts in a row to a person if they haven't responded that day I call it done and don't bother starting conversations with them.

The only person who really texts me at all is my girlfriend. It is sad, but I appreciate it. I don't bother text-messaging most of the time, because, if something is that important, I expect a phone call or a visit in-person. Maybe I'm getting old, or perhaps I'm just trying to reverse the damage that technology has inflicted upon me over the years, deteriorating my social skills and use of free time. Plus, having one of these fancy touchscreen smart-phone thingamajigs, I actually find it to be an inconvenience to text-message, even though I've grown more accustomed to the format.

If I'm trying to make plans with someone, I usually just call them. The person you're calling would usually seem obligated to pick up the phone therefore making you get to the point a lot sooner then sending texts back and forth for hour(s).

When I am texting someone I do get annoyed when they take an hour or more to respond. This one girl I used to date would literally take at least half a day to respond to your message.

easily a top 5 pet peeve of mine....if i text a person who works 10-11 hour shifts, then i wouldnt be bothering them and/or concerned if they're not texting back... but it's those who in the past have been loyal to text back who then on occasion dont text back at all that makes it extremely frustrating.

lets be real...everyone checks their phone once per hour....playing it cool is ridiculous and not neccesary...but people aren't honest enough to just say, "hey im pretty busy right now and cant have a text convo at this moment"

i'm a pretty big offender of this. some of my favorite lines "sorry my phone was on silent" "oh shit my bad i just saw that" "i was at work all day"(even when i didn't even have work that day sometimes). i don't do it to be a dick, but it's easier to say something like that than make up an excuse why i don't want to do something/hang out with that person on the spot

i always text back right away because it's rude to not. unless your job is at a circus & you're walking on a tightrope, being busy or at work is a bullshit excuse to not text back. only takes a few seconds to reply
