RADIOHEAD: THE ALBUM IN RAINBOWS

PRE-ORDERS NOW UNDERWAY FOR THE SPECIAL EDITION BOX-SET AND FOR OCTOBER 10 ALBUM DIGITAL DOWNLOAD.

Radiohead.com is open for business with pre-orders having begun today for their 7th studio album In Rainbows, which will be available from October 10 as a DRM-free MP3 download. Also available to pre-order from now is the Discbox, a special edition box set, details of which are below.

Radiohead's fan service, WASTE, is currently taking advance orders for two formats: the album MP3 and the Discbox, which includes double vinyl and CD versions of the record and a second, enhanced CD with additional new songs, artwork, and photographs of the band, all exclusive to the box. Anyone purchasing this deluxe edition will automatically receive the bundled MP3 album on October 10.

Radiohead are currently planning a traditional CD release of In Rainbows for early 2008.

The album was produced by Nigel Godrich. The complete track listing is:

I am so excited about not just the album, but the way they are doing all of this.

I couldn't be more excited. I just wish that their customer service was more helpful.

Hmm, I'm torn. I will probably get the digital download and choose a low price and then get the regular physical album when it's in stores. The deluxe costs like 80 bucks, that's too much for me.

i can't get it anywhere.

the biggest deal here is the actual release. having such a major act as radiohead releasing DRM-free music without a major distributor like ITMS or Amazon is a big step. i would love to see more and more artists doing something like this. i think i may go with the discobox, myself, though.

it went from having basically nothing on their page to have the whole album available in 10 days
will the discbox not be available in stores then?

I'll be getting the mp3 download for now...and buy the hard copy when it gets in stores. So excited.

I'm VERY impressed about how "hush hush" radiohead kept this release.
Major props to them TOO, if they prevent this from leaking in the next 9 days.
