i think there's nothing on Catch that's as good as "Messes of Men" (for the lyrics), or (musically) "Nice and Blue" or "Sun and the Moon". but i found Catch engaging the whole time, whereas after "Sun and the Moon" i tend to lose interest in Brother, Sister (probably because that song is so fucking awesome and the rest are just pretty much standard mwY fare). the album closer is good but i think C Minor and In a Market Dimly Lit are mediocre, O Porcupine is kind of cool sometimes but none of those three really hit me like the first half of the album.
Haha, on the one hand I'm in the same boat as you in that I find CFUTF more consistant, but on the other hand, a big part of the reason is that Sun and the Moon is the only song on either record I just don't like very much. That thing bores the hell out of me.

you could say that about the majority of Brother, Sister, haha.

c minor, market dimly lit, and o porcupine are three of their best songs

Seriously. Not sure I'd state it as strongly as that, but still, "O Porcupine" is such a bloody jam, and the other two are also sweet.

"ALL CREATION GROANS...! shh... ... Listen to it."

the outro/last verse on "O Porcupine" ... phenomenal. although, really, i think i can safely say Ten Stories is my favorite thing they've done. it didn't have the chance to have the impact on me that Brother, Sister did, but man, it's one of the best-executed concept albums i've ever heard, and the small details of the record really are unbelievable. i'd probably have to go, at this point in my life:

Ten Stories>Brother, Sister> it's all crazy! ... >CFUTF>>>A-B Life

aw man, i missed this show. how was your experience in Bmore?

loved it. i forget the name of that square where the venue was, but that was an awesome area. we did have to walk down one super shady street with about 20 different strip clubs and big bald dudes trying to get us to come in, but aside from that one sketchy area, it was a great town. i even got pulled over for speeding in city limits and the cop let me off with a warning, great town haha and the venue was really awesome, too. two of my favorite bands, cool city, awesome trip.

yeah that's pretty much Baltimore's premier midsize venue (meaning not like an ampitheatre but big bands come through.) the whole area i guess is called PowerPlant live, smack dab in the heart of Downtown/Inner Harbor. next time you come out here for a show, try getting here early and hitting up the National Aquarium, which is pretty much directly across the street from that venue, on the water. seriously the best animal exhibit I've ever been to.

if you're looking at the bar scene if you were to go a mile east you'd hit Fells Point, a mile north you'd hit Mount Vernon (where i live). both excellent, excellent places to get a great meal and get drunk... and EVERYBODY's an underground music fan where i live

just trying to spread the love because i just moved here in August and it's probably the best place i've ever lived. a lot of people get the wrong idea from watching The Wire and hearing about the murder rate, and i mean yeah there's a lot of bad areas but that really overshadows what a cultured, fun, and art-centric city it is if you live in one of the nicer neighborhoods. the only crime that happens where i live is getting your car broken into and thats if you're dumb enough to leave valuables in the open

yeah, when i went the Orioles were still in the playoffs, i woulda loved to hit up a bar and been there for the game. i'll keep those places in mind for this Summer when i'm more able to do the whole road trip thing. i'll say nothing but good things about Baltimore, trust me haha

This band is just too fucking good. I don't have It's All Crazy...but every thing else I do have is seriously such great music. I can't decide though if I enjoy Brother Sister or CFUTF more though. Either way "Disaster Tourism" is probably my favorite song by them.

I can't get into Brother, Sister at all, it just doesn't do it for me It's A->B = CFUTF > 10 Stories > Brother, Sister for me.

I love A -> B Life, the vocals destroy me.

Can they all be equal first?!! I love them all for different reasons. With maybe Crazy behind as I don't find it to be that cohesive as a whole like the other four.

Decided I would check this band out today on spotify. Not really sure where to start so I chose Brother/Sister. So far, this band is different and weird to me right now but I can't stop listening haha.

We're going to have to rank these albums soon. Brother, Sister was what got me into them, I just couldn't stop listening. Messes Of Men, Wolf am I, Nice & Blue, C- Minor . All such amazing songs. On the other hand I can't get into CFUTF at all, it just lacked any stand out moments for me. AB Life is pretty good , but I think I need to give it a few more listens. Have yet to listen to their latest 2 though.
I'd have to say my favorite track of theirs is A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains. I think the awesome lyrics in the verses make it fun to sing along to.
"I'm halfway listening to what she thinks she knows, we're like children dressing in our parents clothes"
