I can't stand Axl Rose, so it hurts me to say that I actually think this letter was very professional and well done. He didn't point fingers or call names. He politely turned down and explained his reasoning. I applaud him for that. Am I gonna listen to GnR or support him now...of course not.
Lets be realistic. the ball wasn't in his court? how many millions of dollars did he make playing music? he makes money doing a hobby, its not like he's slumming it. he has to spend what 3 hours with a group of people and sing a couple songs and accept an award for 3 albums? I'm sorry but if anyone did this i couldn't support it. the hall is bullshit, i respect the point he made about that, but to turn down receiving the highest honor you can be given in music is a little absurd. its not like he had to go through torture, it was a couple songs to sing
In my opinion, the only GnR members that should be inducted are the ones who wrote and recorded Appetite and Use Your Illusions. That's all the band are properly known and respected for...you don't see people going 'oh Guns N Roses, yeh they did (insert song from Chinese Democracy here)'
I think what's happened here is the hall of fame have refused to induct newer members of the band and that technically have been in the band longer than slash, duff, etc as they've only released one (I think I'm correct in saying this) disaster of an album. My opinion, but feel free to challenge me
