i've seen plenty of singers go crazy on stage and sound great.
if the guitarist/bassist/drummer in Transit couldn't preform live like he does on record people would be "wtf this is bullshit" why is it any different for a vocalist? |
honestly id rather watch a guy have fun performing and not have perfect pitch than to watch a dude just stand there and hit every note. i saw them at a basement show in my hometown and they killed it. |
I can see where both of you are coming from on this. I've seen Transit a ton of times and I've always thought that they put on a great show. Then I'll see videos like this after the fact and he DOES sound not-so-great a lot of the time. But when I am at a show I never notice that. Their live show has enough redeeming qualities that to me it does not matter whether things are on key, I always have a fun time.
That said, there is obviously a lot of room for improvement in the vocals and I think their instrumentation has always been much better than the vocals.
At this point it's gotten so old seeing people talk about whether Joe can or can't sing. His voice is brought up in every post about their acoustic videos, which is like once a week. He's not a perfect singer and either you like the band anyways or you don't. Both opinions are respectable and I don't know why there has to be "he must have stolen your girlfriend" drama.
