This sucks. Saw him a few years ago at Gathering of The Vibes and definitely a highlight of the weekend.

when he plays drums, you don't even need other instruments. you can hear them all in his playing. when he sings you can really feel southern hardship, even from a time before your own, and in a town that held the most well known festival of all time and where Bob Dylan resides, Levon Helm is still mayor.

i really don't want to see this happen. never made it to a ramble. i'll miss that wise ass grin of his. watching The Last Waltz, and I will certainly be playing it fucking loud.

One of my favorite musicians. Glad I got to see him a few years ago. He will be truly missed.
