|I was a football fan (Cleveland Browns) from 1955 - 1964. That's when I discovered hockey and quickly realized that it was not only superior to football, but to all other sports. I was a Blackhawks fan until 1970 when the Sabres arrived. I was there for the first puck drop and have since been priviledged to have witnessed some of the all time greats: Orr, Mahovliches, Ratelle, Howe, Delvecchio, Mikita, Nestorenko, Pilot, Espositoes, Vickers, Richard (Henri, not Maurice), Bucyk, etc. I guess I should also include Perreault, Martin, Robert, and Shoenfeld to that list. I didn't start playing myself until I was 30. But from then until the time I retired at 46, I have played in many places including a tournament at Lake Placid against Peter Mahovolich in 1985! Found in this old thread, where apparently homophobia was a cool thing for one or a few posters.
Best part, Mike calls Lilja a clown. Hey, he still is!
