Hello everyone/bonjour tout le monde,

I could REALLY use some help from Canadian AP.net users. I graduated from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) last December with a Bachelors in International Business and a minor in French. I have since been using any resource I can find to find a career in Canada. I'm basically open to any area but I have concentrated in Ontario/Alberta/Québec.

I'm just not having a lot of luck so far. I've joined LinkedIn, Monster.ca, SimplyHired.ca, Career Shift and while those places have lots of positions it's very hard to find something that I could realistically be hired to do as a new graduate. As far as experience, I've never had an internship but I worked part time throughout college at an international company doing data entry in a professsional office setting and studied abroad twice in France and Spain (I'm trilingual).

With such a broad degree and large geographical region it's hard to narrow down what to apply for. I often type in "entry level" or "junior" into search fields which yield large amounts of results but many "spam" positions (ie: Vector). If anyone has ANYTHING they know of I'd love to know. I'm trying to get my foot in the door!

Maple syrup is big up there. That and hockey. Find a way to combine the two and you will be set.

Just come to North Dakota and you can make 100k a year starting out at an oil company. That's not an exaggeration.

But I wouldn't recommend it unless you're desperate for a job. Looks like you have the chance of more options with that degree.

That sounds great financially but I'm really trying to leave the US.

I've heard North Dakota is booming now? I have a degree in Special Education Mild/Mod from Kent State and Licensed in Ohio, not doing much with it out here in Oregon though.

Good choice haha. If you want to use your French then I'd suggest Quebec or New Brunswick but there's many French communities all over the country. I can't say I can help with getting a career though

I'm not that familiar with our immigration policies, but good luck! I will say that my sister made the opposite move years ago and what really helped her was working for a company that had offices in both countries.

Especially in Northwest ND there are jobs everywhere, not just oil-field related. Every restaurant, store, hospital, and more are desperate for workers and if you have experience or a degree you certainly wouldn't have a problem.

How is Alberta? I've applied at places in Calgary and Edmonton. Québec would be awesome but I have to be careful because my girlfriend does not speak French thus her finding a career there is limited.....or is it?

Does anyone know the prospects of an anglophone (my girlfriend) finding a career in Early Childhood education in Québec?

That's kind of rude...any reason why? I mean I fully respect Canadian history/cultures, speak both the official languages, have a college degree, and have a slight disdain for the US..

How did she go about it? Did she work in Canada first at the compaby then move to the US? I'm trying to avoid doing the reciprical of doing that because I feel it will increase my chances of "putting it off" and I'll never get to move. Didn't Lueda immigrate to Canada? I wonder how she did it.

I'm not much help with this, but I do think if you're multilingual you will be put above others who are not when applying for a lot of jobs in Canada.
