AP.net Playlist: Best of April 2012

Posted by: Jason Tate (05/01/12)
Today marks the first day of May ... and I'm not seeing any May flowers out my window. Maybe that's because I live in Oregon, and it rains every day. But hey, we got that song everyone sings about Portland, amiright? Anyway, that means that we've put together our round-up playlist of all our favorite songs from April. You can check that out in the replies. This month I also asked the folks from PunkNews.org, PropertyOfZack, AlterthePress, and UndertheGun to join in on helping us re-cap our favorite music from the past month. As usual, we had a bunch of other songs that came out in April that weren't on Rdio, but you can find the names of them below -- so check those out as well. Any we missed and need to check out?

Don't know if it was technically an April release, but that's when it finally showed up on my doorstep. That and Joyce Manor were really the only new releases I bought in April. Pretty dead month. I still don't get the magnitude of the hype behind Joyce Manor.

You win! I've had that album since my birthday(March 3rd), and I've been giving it so many listens. They need to blow the fuck up. Wish it would have happened with Chase the White Whale, I don't think this album will do it though, sadly.

I actually think Bury A Dream is the better record. Literally every track is as catchy or more so than the last. I cannot stop listening to it. Fans of Jimmy Eat World, Jacks Mannequin, any awesome pop-rock really should be eating this up. I dont know how it isnt huge on AP yet!!

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe

I have been listening to that song way too much. And Payphone by Maroon 5. Two very poppy and enjoyable songs in one month. The world really is going to end soon.

Oh, plus new SYG, Artist Vs Poet, and House of Heroes.

I wouldn't touch that Maroon 5 song with a ten foot pole, but "Call Me Maybe" is probably the most infectious pop song since "Party In The USA."

Was excited for this all day. Will most certainly see some additions after checking this out, but here's my Spotify playlist I had going: April 2012

Biggest "find" from these monthly wrap ups so far has been The Sidekicks. Picked up the "Grace" 7" a few days ago.

Idk, its super catchy. If you dont have a problem with autotune its pretty enjoyable. My complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of the rap, but it's not terrible.
