Just awesome. I love Sam Cooke, he's probably my favourite soul singer. His songs are so simple, yet so good. Hit Kit probably isn't my favourite album of his, but it is still fantastic and has some of his most famous songs, like Only Sixteen, Everybody Loves to Cha-Cha-Cha and Win Your Love Me. He had a fantastic voice and just listening to him feels like a real treat. Inexplicably, this album is out of print. God knows how, but try and track it down if you can.

Snow Patrol - Eyes Open

Continuing my Snow Patrol binge, I decided to check out an album I haven't truly given a fair shot. I knew I would like it, the first 2 tracks alone are 2 of my favorite SP tracks, and once you get into a good rhythm with any band you learn to trust them and what they put out. Final Straw and Eyes Open are two similar records. Similar feel, musical elements, and quality. You can easily consider this Final Straw Part 2, but that isn't really a bad thing. 9/10

Explosions in the Sky - Take Care, Take Care, Take Care

I have been listening to this at least once a week since it was released and there is not a bad note or moment. It's hard for me to discuss because I think this is "that" album for me. It was met a little lukewarmly which I never understood. Postcard is definitely an all time favorite

Not as good as Fantasy in my opinion, but still, wow. This is my first time listening to this album, and it is pretty awesome. The skits were funny but stinging at the same time.

... can't stand this album to be honest. It just feels tepid, safe, and mediocre in every respect. I wrote a review for it under those pretenses though and it was met with a ton of hate, so you're not the only one.

I think Take Care is a decent album, but they're doing absolutely nothing they haven't done before. I can't hear a hint of progression in their sound, so I barely listen to that album. If I'd never heard any of their albums before, I'd think it was a good album, but like you say, it's completely tame and safe. They took no risks with that album and they get no rewards because of it. I'd have liked to have heard them try something a bit different, even if it didn't work, or I didn't enjoy it. As it is, they're a band that aren't moving forward at all.

exactly my thoughts, more or less (if you add in a little more criticism for them doing it better before, but yeah that's the gist). for me Take Care serves as the perfect microcosm for that stale, third-wave of post-rock i.e. Mono, This Will Destroy You, (before their recent record) Mogwai, This Is Your Captain Speaking, etc.

I never really gave The Shins a chance when I was younger. I bought Oh, Inverted World when everyone was raving about it and only spun it a few times...wasn't really my cup of tea at the time. Didn't pay attention to them for a while until I heard that Broken Bells song "The High Road" (which is a JAM). Downloaded the leak of Port Of Morrow a few months back because I was low on new stuff at the time and found it quite enjoyable. Downloaded this last night after a friend played me "So Says I" and...wow!

I just love how tight everything is. The songs click on all sonic levels for me, and there's a brashness that I haven't heard in a while (really reminds me of 2003 for some reason). I'm not really into the lyrics yet; I feel like they're not as important to the music...more like they're excuses for Mercer to do whatever the hell he wants vocally (and I'm totally down for that).

Listened through As Cities Burn - Come Now Sleep.
After 6 years of wanting to I finally saw these guys at RaleighPalooza on Saturday. They were phenomenal, it was the best performance I've seen. In my opinion this album's perfect, the best thing I've ever listened to. If you get the chance to see them, do it. And definitely listen through this album as well as Hell Or High Water and SILYAYD

Only started listening to this guy last night, but I like what I'm hearing. He sounds very old school, but very modern at the same time. It's not perfect, there are some flaws, mainly lyrically, but for a 17 year old kid this is very promising. I'll keep my eye on him for sure.

Decahedron - Disconnection_Imminent (not to be mistaken for Dodecahedron [black metal])

Now here's an incredibly overlooked post-hardcore record. The band is made up of members of Fugazi and Frodus, so how could it be bad? Answer: it most certainly isn't. The overtly-political lyrics are a little grating at points, but this record jams hard. I'd give it a 8/10.

RIYL: (later) Fugazi, Frodus, Shellac
