We'll get Olt if we pick up a large portion of the salary. So then we'll be paying $13 million a year or whatever for a third base prospect.

We arent down on pence, we just can probably get the most in terms of prospects and we can save salary next season by not having to pay him. Thats how I feel anyways.

Well, yeah, that is the case. He acquired a core and a stocked farm system which allowed him to overpay and acquire Lee, Halladay, Pence, and Oswalt, but he also handed out a lot of really bad contracts and his complimentary moves have been awful.

While they've been a successful regular season team, their lack of offense was rather predictable come the post season the last 3 years.

This is also only his 4th year as GM. Not 5th. And the drafts have been pretty horrible since he took over.

2009 - WS
2010 - NLCS no offense
2011 - Could barely score in NLDS
2012 - on pace for worst record since 1997.

I get why Phillies fans are upset with the GM. It's because the Phillies are gonna be mega lousy for the next 5 seasons with the way things are going. Ryan Howard will be there clogging payroll for all of it.

We won a WS in 08. A lot of people on this board havent gotten to witness something like that, so I really appreciate it. My only issue is with Amaro. Don't really like the majority of the moves he has made and honestly, we have only gone downhill since hes become the GM. This year is tough to judge with all the injuries, but I think we need to start getting younger and being smarter about spending the money on the team.
