So some of the movies have their own threads, but I feel at this point there needs to be one thread for discussion of all of the Alien films.

Alien (1979): Directed by Sir Ridley Scott

Aliens (1986): Directed by James Cameron

Alien 3 (1992): Directed by David Fincher

Alien Resurrection (1997): Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Prometheus (2012): Directed by Sir Ridley Scott

*Notice that I did not include the AVP films. This is for a reason haha.

I sold my old DVD Quadrilogy to a friend and used the money to buy the Anthology Blu Ray set. I've watched Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 in the last couple of days to gear up for Prometheus tomorrow night. Beyond excited.

I think mine is Aliens, but it and Alien are both more or less perfect imo.

Great little read. My favorite will always be (barring some miracle set forth by Prometheus, the original with Aliens and Alien 3 close behind. I honestly love the directors cut of Alien 3. It is a great movie.

Yeah, I watched all 4 films together last weekend (Quadrilogy FTW) for the first time since I first bought the set in 2003.
Alien>Aliens>Alien 3>>>Alien Resurrection

No love for the AVP franchise? GOOD.

Alien the best film. Aliens is a great action movie. Alien 3 has some cool concepts but the execution is questionable. Alien 4 is mediocre but a product of its time. Even with the series' declining quality, the AVP movies should have been much better than they were.

I'm excited for Prometheus, but I'm trying not to have my hopes too high for fear of disappointment.

Have you seen the Director's Cut of Alien 3? It flows much better and feels like a complete film. The added 34 minutes or so really change the finished product.

I've only watched the first two, because I've heard nothing but poor things about the other two. That said, they are both some of my all time favorites.

Yes, the assembly cut (Fincher wasn't involved) is absolutely superior, although it does drag a bit in parts.

Isn't that one where the Xenomorph comes out of the Ox instead of the Dog?

I've never seen the assembly cut, but I think 3 isn't bad anyway.

I have still have never seen Alien 3 or Resurrection, but the first 2 in the series are about as good as good as sci-fi gets. I can't wait to see Prometheus, and I like that it's a movie people are enjoying in 3D

Alien is probably the most frightened I've been during a movie. The scene where the xenomorph is in the vent/duct gets me everytime.
