The NME has picked "The 100 Greatest Tracks Of Its Lifetime" to celebrate its 60th birthday. Check out the Top 20 in the replies and find more information here.
It's pretty hard to pull this off. The list is very NME, there are a few things I dislike about it, but I'm never going to be satisfied really.
Off the top of my head, without giving it much thought and just looking at the top 20. Dizee Rascal shouldn't be there. there's no need for two Stone Roses songs. It's cool to see Joy Division at the top. Shoulda picked The Clash over The Sex Pistols. Kind of a shame that the one hip-hop track they choose is pretty mediocre.

While I do love the fact that the beach boys are on this twice, it's just a ridiculous concept of a list. There is no winning really, though I do love love will tear us apart
Dizzee is the hip hop selection they made? In the past 60 years? No Eminem, Big L, Nas, (early) Jay-Z, DMC, NWA, Wu, Pac, De La Soul, Common?... the list goes on. But they pick that Dizzee track? The list became irrelevant to me once I read that one.
