ATP Presents: Home Grown 10 Years Later

Posted by: Thomas Nassiff (06/25/12)
Alter The Press has a feature today about Home Grown 10 years after the main part of their career. Frontman Adam Lohrbach is now working as the creative arts director of a local church in Southern California, but the interview reminisces on the band's career.
From the InterviewPop-punk will always have some sort of grip on me. The music I write nowadays still has a punky aggression to it, just with more MIDI and synth production involved. Synth pads, electronic percussion, strings, orchestral arrangements to thicken up the sound etc. However Iím still a sucker for a catchy guitar rhythm lead and a good hooky chorus, and some nice harmonies. That will never change.

Nice to see that Drive-Thru consistently fucked over (almost) every one of their bands.

Home Grown got me in to pop-punk with That's Business, and I've loved all of their albums and EPs. Man, I miss those guys.

On another note, what's up with everyone doing church stuff nowadays?

That was a good interview. It's always a bit saddening to hear former bandmates and childhood friends who don't keep in touch with each other.

Powerful testimony. Had no idea this guy follows Jesus. That rules!

I definitely miss HomeGrown - one of the most fun bands to listen to this time of year.

Hahahaha that would have been hilarious. The whole Drive-Thru "thing" still blows my mind. Such a bummer it had to turn out that way.

You might even say Drive-Thru walked all over their bands. Heyo!

Good interview. Glad he's doing well, but some of his responses gave off a creepy vibe to me. Dude certainly loves his religion.

How do we know they just never recouped their advance?

Home Grown didn't move units. Hell, until recently the Kings of Pop LP was available on the West Aspen site for a couple bucks. Also, HG had limited merch on the DTR site. And they weren't huge sellers. I doubt they recouped the advance.
