the fact remains that you've given Brian Fallon's last two records perfect scores. This means that there is nothing wrong with the album. Flawless. It's easy to call someone a fanboy when they FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH AN ARTIST'S WORK WHATSOEVER! No criticism at all. If you truly don't care what people think, why do you feel inclined to write reviews in the first place? They are written to be seen aren't they? But your fandom is besides the point...
The fact that you're a staff writer for this site shreds any sense of credibility that they otherwise have. How come you're the only staff writer handing out 100%'s? I've seen Jason review albums he LOVES and not give out 10/10. You know why? because he cares about the credibility of his site and understands objectivity. It's not a hard concept. Just step back from your bias and review the album as a listener, not a fan.
I personally believe that every person out there should have one and only one album to them that is 100%. It's this 100% piece of work that we compare and hold others to. There can't be more than one 100% in each persons eyes because obviously the person would like one record slightly more than the other. When I review albums they usually never come close to 100% but I have given an album a 100% and probably never will again unless that album surpasses it. But music is subjective so why not let people score things the way they want to. My only issue with the score is that now I feel like it is over hyped and won't live up to how the reviewer described it. however, he/she is subject to their opinion. I'm sure it'll be a solid B+ album.
