Vans' Warped Tour appears set to visit South America next year. Paul Kersh, New Media & Strategic Marketing Manager at Vans, gave an interview in Portuguese talking about this new venture.
Going to be mega-popular; I bet they'll draw even bigger crowds than they do here in the US.
Right? shows out of the US are always crazier than the ones here. I saw BMTH a few years back in Mexico City and there was a huge crowd waiting for them in the airport. They got beiber treatment, it was insane.
Southern US is MUCH hotter than any brazilian city in the summer. Texas is ridiculous. 100°F/38°C is the record for most of our cities, but just another average texan summer day.
And they don't have to come in the middle of summer, do they? That wouldn't even be a smart decision, as people'd rather go to the beach instead of melting on a concert.
And why do you think it would be a deathwish? Yellowcard had the best show of their career when they played in Brazil last tour. Before that, Ryan said the best show was also when they came to Brazil back in '06, which was also their most attended one.
Most bands have their best concerts in South America and return frequently. All the best crowds are brazilian, or argentinian, or chilean. It's just different down here.
I'm so fucking excited now. Having Warped near me was like a dream. I'm sure they'll come back every year after the first one - we'll definitely give every band the time of their lives.
