10:04 AM on 07/18/12 | Bitch, bitch, bitch about new AFI music. This album's been sitting in the can for a while and Interscope hasn't done jack shit with it. They're taking the opportunity they can to put out and promote this album now when they finally have a chance. "Ill Lit Ships" was first played on the radio in February 2010. That's over 2 years and a handful of these songs were uploaded to Soundcloud about a year ago. Imagine if you were trying to put out an album for years and were getting stonewalled at every turn. If you've even casually followed Blaqk Audio, you know this album should have been out already.

this. i'm excited to finally hear it, though i've already heard 8/9 songs (some aired on radio/some were played live)

12:36 PM on 07/18/12 | News on Once the Clouds are Gone I'm not sure how old you think Jade and Davey are, but they are rather young (33-34 I think). When they started up AFI they were in high school. |
I know but I'm saying at this rate the next AFI album will be out when they're almost 40 lol

03:48 PM on 07/18/12 | Just give us new AFI god dammit. |
Or, you know, you could give us a new AFI album. |
How is that even remotely related to this? You realize this album was ready before Crash Love was released, right?

Actually, they're both getting really close to 40. Davey Havok is 36, almost 37, and Jade Puget is 38, almost 39.
I'm excited for this, I've heard a lot of the songs from this, and so far it seems better than Cex Cells. I just feel that way though since I got so burned out on the first album.
Crash Love was hardly toured because they had other things to do Davey was in the American Idiot show, Hunter went and released an album with another band, ect. ect. It also didn't help that the sales for that album were not good, especially when you look at the sales of their last 2 albums.

Doesn't stop me from wanting new AFI way more than I'd ever want a new Blaqk Audio album. Although, I guess the fact that Davey and Jade are still (somewhat) active.

05:23 PM on 07/18/12 | Love everything that Davey and Jade do so will definitely check this out.
As for the AFI comments I agree I'd love to see them tour again or at least a new album. Fans over on their official fan boards are pretty fucked off they haven't released any form of news about the band in 2 years not even an update about venturing into other projects and taking time off. To be fair now though I think this pretty much confirms Davey and Jade are focused on this project at the moment. Might do AFI some good to take some time off and re-energize for when they decided to fire things up again.

08:01 PM on 07/18/12 | I was thinking more about this today and despite excitement for a new BA album, I realize a song like "Death of Seasons" was likely a one time thing and that makes me sad. I'm am really glad for more BA, though. As stupid as it might sound, it's easier for me to like a band/project/etc. when there's multiple releases.
What sucks though is how big electronic music is now. I think Cex Cells came out a little too early that no one latched onto it and this might come out too late where it seems too trendy (it shouldn't matter, but Davey's haircut doesn't help). It's like they missed that sweet spot where the album could have done significantly better. It did chart and stick for about a month or so, but it just kind of came and went.

I sort of a agree with this but I hoped to be proven wrong. Seems they have had this project in the works for years though as there was a lot of experimenting with electronics On Decemberunderground (which I loved)

03:16 AM on 07/19/12 | Been waiting fucking forever for this, not so much because I love Blaqk Audio, but cause I knew the new AFI record wouldn't get made til' after this was out and toured for.
Edit: I'm glad they've taken time off though. Hopefully like was said above, they'll be re-energized plenty and channel that into (maybe and very hopefully) a release that's more focused on a return to their more punk sound. Saves the Day eventually went back to their roots after a couple of experimental releases. It's been done before, so I have my fingers crossed.
