So my cousins told my aunts that I'm dating an Indian chick and word had spread amongst my relatives and other nobodies that love drama in the local chinese community. It's been two years since the end of my last relationship with a white girl and after all the weeding through not so compatible girls, I finally found someone I actually like! Now my parents are on to me again with all the lectures. I'm going to try very hard not to budge.

Anyone else had any similar stories?

You just have to learn to ignore it. Sit them down, explain to them that you're happy, that this is the person you are choosing to be with, and that if they can't get past their ignorance, that is not your fault. I'm in an interracial relationship, and I've been with my boyfriend for going on 4 years, when we first started dating, my asshole dad tried to give me a ton of shit for it. My asshole dad is now out of the picture, having moved out and is out of mine and my mom's lives, so I no longer have problems, but he wasn't the only one. I got shit from strangers, I got passive aggressive comments from relatives, they're just jealous because they don't know how to love someone based on what's inside of them, not the color of their fucking skin.

In the end, your life is about what makes you happy, and WHO makes you happy, and if your family can't learn to accept that, then fuck em'. They will come around eventually, when they see that you are not going to date who they want you to date simply because they are the same race. This shit will always be baffling to me. I still get along well with my parents but this is the sole problem I have with them. I had to go through this last time for 3 whole years! Still haven't learned a thing.

In my experience, people that have problems with interracial relationships have a bigger problem with homosexuality. They'll thank their lucky stars that you've not gone in through the outdoor and let you do whatever you'd like in peace.

...or you could bring home the stankiest, sluttiest chinese girl you know and loudly bang it out down the hall from your parents. The next morning, you could ask which girl they prefer because, of course, you love them both.

No problem, if they can't accept it, its their loss. People are so ignorant sometimes, they'd rather remain hateful, than rejoice in the happiness of their children. Its a damn shame.

I'm black and none of the white girlfriends' fathers I've come across have ever liked me. Not even attempts to get to know me. And.. that's not my problem.

I'm black and my boyfriend's parents don't care. Nor do my own parents. I've always dated outside my race because that's my preference. Now I do come across people who get offended because i don't date black men. I live in a rural area and so it's not that common to see an interracial couple. I feel as if I'm just ahead of the curve. ;)
Do what you want, love who you want. Just be happy regardless.
