I ADORE Elizabethtown. I rediscovered it this year and fell in love with it: probably one of my top 5 favorite soundtracks ever, and a few moments that rank at the very top of the Crowe filmography for me. I still think Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire, and Say Anything are better films, but I love Elizabethtown as much as any of them, I think. So much stuff I love on that soundtrack. Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Elton John, Patty Griffin, U2, My Morning Jacket...plus all of the more obscure stuff, like EastMountainSouth, Wheat, Hellen Stellar, Jeff Finlin, Ulrich Schnauss...the music makes that movie for me. I think the mixtape road trip has gotta be one of my favorite sequences in all of cinema.
