Resu Deretsiger Bellingham, WA Male - 24 Years Old | I know I don't post on here very much anymore, but I hope maybe some of you will give me your opinion on an issue I have.
Today I was let go from my job because I have a relationship with a co-worker. My co-worker was showing my boss a text from another co-worker that was insulting and rude, and while the co-worker I have a relationship with and I worked, the manager "happened to back out of the text she was showing him," scroll up a page or two, and see a couple texts from me that imply our sexual relationship. Other than that text message he saw (on her personal cell phone), without permission from my co-worker, we have done nothing wrong, other than not telling them about our relationship.
So I guess, even though we were both in this relationship, which is technically against company policy, we both were fired today. Even though we broke a rule, is looking through her cell phone without her permission and being caught like that even legal? I'm not even sure if there are laws against illegal searches like that and privacy rights at work. Any help is appreciated | | |
