So after having a 360 and PS3 for years I finally broke down and bought a Wii due to myself having 4 games I had for it and really want to play. (Xenoblade, Muramasa, Tales Of Symphonia 2, and Fragile). Throughout the years I had heard that the Wii is much less powerful than its competitors but I had also heard that art style helped make up for it. Well, after getting all setup and popping in 3 of the 4 games I can say that that is a load of horseshit and that it's almost unplayable for me unless I've done something wrong.

I have a 42" Sony Bravia HDTV and have the Wii hooked up to component cables (the apparent best for the system). Under the system settings I have it under 480p. I've been trying to play Xenoblade but it looks truly horrible. Very fuzzy looking. If you do a Google search for it, the game looks pretty good which is what confuses me. Are these people not using HD?

A couple other questions;

•Which of those games is worth playing first?

•Is the classic controller pro worth it or should I just use my Gamecube's Wavebird?

I'm relatively sure that picture you have there is Xenoblade emulated on Dolphin, which is a Gamecube and Wii emulator. My understanding is that it can convert Wii games to 1080p, and then you get a game that looks like the image you found.

I've been playing this game recently as well (love it so far) but the graphics also look like shit for me, I think that's just how it is.

As far as your other two questions, I can't help you there. All I've played so far is Xenoblade but I really do like it. I did love ToS 1 though so maybe I'll pick that up next.

Edit: I play on a 37 inch TV and the graphics hurt my eyes, I'd imagine with your TV being a bit bigger it'll be slightly worse. Sometimes I feel like the Wii is meant to be played on a smaller TV or a computer monitor.

Also are you using the Wii component cables vs. the stock cables it ships with? The component cables make a huge difference graphics wise as well.

Yes, I purchased them separately. I may have found something to help both of us out. After poking around on the internet I found out that if you tone sharpness to 0 it will make it less jaggy. I did it and it definitely makes it better IMO. Try it and tell me what you think.

I've only just begun XB but I am pumped so far. It brings me back to the era of PSX RPGs, the score so far is superb.

The one suggestion I can give you is to not play Tales of Symphonia 2. That was the main reason I got a wii and as a huge fan of the Tales series I have to say I was so incredibly letdown. And I'm the type of person who will force themselves to like a game from a franchise I enjoy.

I play mine on a 55", and depending on the game, it still looks pretty shitty... It's an old, outdated console, and I only bought mine for the latest Zelda game that came out (literally 40 hours of gameplay, I suggest you get it ASAP)... And like I said, beat the game in 40 hours, hacked my Wii so I could play any game for free, and haven't really played it since Zelda came out, which was 6+ months ago... Worth it, but at the same time, not at all.

I thought Super Mario Galaxy looked pretty good. But I played that 3 years ago.

Outside of the few rare Nintendo stuff that doesn't blow and the few rare gems, the Wii is useless. Also, don't play Tales 2 as Steps said. What a piece of shit.

I dunno, I play on a 32" TV and everything looks pretty great in my opinion, at least as far as the Wii goes. Xenoblade is brilliant, but the strength in the graphics is more how much it's able to render at once as opposed to the actual textures up close.

Reasons like this are why I think the Wii U will do very well this next generation. There is a lot of room for the Wii U to grow like with HD, and online, whereas there isn't many "new" features that Xbox "720" and PS4 can do.

I'm the same way, I have the same mentality in music often too. What was so bad with it?

I've long been a fan of the series but I've only finished a few of them (I'm ashamed to say). Here are the ones I own and my level of involvement with them;

Tales Of Destiny (played about ~10 hours, got sidetracked).
Tales Of Eternia (ToD2 in North America) - beat, loved it.
Tales Of Legendia - Beat, not as good as ToE
Tales Of Symphonia - Beat it, my second favourite.
Tales Of Symphonia 2 - never played
Tales Of The World: RM - Not as good as others but held my interest.
Tales Of the Abyss - never played :/
Tales Of Vesperia - Got about 4 hours in, love it so far but I got sidetracked.

I've always liked Zelda but never been in love with it. That said I really liked Wind Waker so perhaps I'll nab this one.

That's the reason I bought it (only 45 clams online). I have a short list of desired games and a handful of must plays. Aside from Xenoblade I really want The Last Story.

Muramusa is a beautiful looking game.

Indeed. It's a spiritual sucessor to Odin Sphere which is breathtaking, one of my all time favourites.
