His interviews (this one and the Redbull interview in particular) are really beginning to turn me off. He seems so incredibly genuine when you see him live, yet consistently says things that seem very incompatible with that persona. It seems like his ego has inflated a bit, but hopefully that's not the case.

It's perfectly fine to not feel the need to be worshiped like that, but he's bludgeoning the fact that he doesn't want it or even approve of it. I just think it's not right for a public image. Like it or not, he has that now.

agreed. If Brian were to always work at it, he could be both still that guy from jersey and also a hero musician to people, hope he can realize that because he's at a point where it he can't just be brian from jersey anymore

I really don't see how this interview turned anyone off, what he said seemed very reasonable to me, and he didn't say anything about not appreciating his fans/meeting them or anything. I think most people in his position would be feeling the same way, he's just one of the only ones that are honest about it.

People want to hear Gaslight songs becuase of Brian's honest and heart felt lyrics. That is why there is something special about this band, the honesty. It seems like people only want half of Brian's truth. I don't think for a second Brian does not appreicate his fans. He seems to love the fact that people love is band and connect with his words on a level that he probably doesn't even fully understand. But he is not our friend, he is not even an idol, he is a man who is honest with the way he sees the world and what he is going through. People connect to that honesty, he doesnt owe anyone any more than that. That is what i respecet about him and this band. He is an artist who is never going to stop making music. He doesn't do it for the money, he does it cause it is his passion, it is his release. You could take away his entire fan base and tomorrow i guarantee you this guy would still be writing songs and playing them to an audience of any. Take his honesty for exactly what it is and for exactly what makes him unique, love him or hate him for it, at least you know where he is coming from. I wish more people could be that way. I feel like this country could you a little more honesty and integrity and i for one am willing to listen to a guy who will give it me and with him i respect the place that is coming from. That is why this band is so special today. They aren't a package from American Idol, targeted to a certian demographic. They are honest rock musicians and i will be following this band until an old age, they aren't going anywhere.
