I feel like most vehement atheists simply don't want to believe in God. You can talk science all you want, but it never disproves God. And holding God responsible for things that have happened to you or others (or making it the cause for your disbelief) is incredibly narrow and self-absorbed. It isn't about you, or anyone else you could meet in this life.

I attend the most famous catholic university in the world, and I'm not aware of any theological scholars who interpret Genesis literally. The Bible, and especially the Old Testament (that's the ancient, Jewish part), is written in a very abstract manner, as a means of helping its readers arrive at the truth.

I've experienced miracles, so in spite of my immature angst, I can't deny the existence of God.

That said, I'll wholeheartedly echo the sentiment expressed earlier that He is a Dick.

ND? JELLY. It's surprising how the general public isn't aware that the more traditional, orthodox denominations do not have what is seen as "fundamentalist" theology.

I feel like I'll end up regretting getting involved here, but I can't help myself.

The reason science can't disprove God's existence is because there is no actual tangible evidence of it to disprove in the first place. Obviously the two aren't incompatible, but from a stricty scientific perspective (because that's pretty much where you're trying to come from when you say "science can't disprove God") the existence of God is a non-starter.

... right.

You can talk science all you want, but it never disproves God.
If that's your only argument for the existence of God, then lol.

Holding the belief that there's a God up there that loves you is incredibly self-absorbed as well.

That's what I don't get, for example, some atheists ignore God when everything is going good for them but as soon as something bad happens they start to rant about how they hate God and sometimes how it's his fault even though they don't believe in him. I also think some miracles are divine intervention. People just like to give their heavy weight to God so they don't have to answer to themselves.

How can you even say that? Its obvious he doesn't. Science proves everything. Religion proves nothing.

This. Religion is bullshit hypocrisy and judgement. Some of the most ignorant and hateful people are some of the most religious.

Some of the most ignorant and hateful are also not religious so what are you trying to prove? Especially in Christianty, you accept you're not perfect and that we don't intend on being perfect beings because we know it's impossible. If you're going to hate religion because some of it's followers are hateful and ignorant than you should also hate everyone on the planet because everyone is somewhat ignorant and hateful and don't even try to say they aren't. The Bible was written by a man? So was science. Some man just started to throw random numbers together and call it science to proof something that has never been proven. The earth was flat...oh wait, the Bible mentioned the Earth was round when people that it was flat. Religion is judgement? So is the government and laws, are you going to ignore those too? The fact you call out religion on all of the above and not reflecting on the entire human race of being the same way is the irony of your post.

1) Science definitely does not proof everything, how you even came up with that is beyond me.
2) The point of religion is to have faith, it clearly says it.

This is the funniest thing I've read on this website in awhile!

Are you sure you didn't mean to post it in the joke thread?
