I just got into this show, mainly due to this thread and the reccomendation of one of my close friends.

I just finished season 1, and all I can say is 'wow.'

It's definitely the best cop drama I've ever seen, but it's so much more than that.

Wow, good for you. I couldn't agree more, sucks fo rme though, here at school the on demand sucks and it never comes in on Sunday night/Monday morning. I think last week's was the first time it did, anyways I still don't have the second to last episode, but it looks to be amazing. I really think this and Battlestar Galactica (even though the past few episodes have been lackluster) are the two best shows on TV. The Wire puts up intriguing drama every week. So good.

yeah, it makes discussing the show online a bit of a bitch, cuz you never know what episode people are on. how would you rate this season overall? personally i think it's the best one yet, but this is the first season i've watched on a weekly basis, so i don't know if that is biasing my opinion.

Honestly, I didn't even catch onto the show until this season. I caught the third season online, and it was good, but I am confident that this fourth season is the best one. I honestly don't see how it could not be, the characters are fleshed out and so real. The storylines are brilliantly gritty and never stray into the realm of unbelievabilty, the acting is superb even with the addition of a new component of the show that deals with middle school children, the locales used are great and finally the tone that the show sets and keeps is as good as any I've seen in a show. I used to think that the Shield was the best cop drama on TV, and it had an amazing 5th season that was wrought with drama, but this 4th season of The Wire far surpasses even that.

totally with you on the shield comparison. i've loved that show since close to the beginning, and didn't think there was another cop show on tv that could come close. oh how wrong i was. definitely check out the first 2 season dvd's of the wire when you get a chance. season 2 is kinda weak (there's very little focus on the gangs and drug dealers), but season 1 is probably my second favorite.

That's because most of the storylines are actually accurate relative to what is currently going on in Baltimore.

I watched upto like the second episodre of the 3rd season but then I lost all the data on my external hard drive, and I don't get showtime

As long as Omar isn't dead t he show will always be amazing though
