just do what i did

apply for a job you're extremely underqualified and underexperienced for and get really lucky

it's seriously all about the interview.

number 1 interview tip: when the interviewer(s) ask if you have questions, ask questions pertaining to the business and not typical "HURR WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE HERE" and stuff.

number 2 interview tip: be professional at the beginning, then near the end when the personal questions come, try to find something you and the intervier(s) have in common and strike up a conversation about that.

it's all about how you present yourself. if you present yourself as some lame-o mcgee that on one will hire, you're not gonna get hired.

I think I laughed a little too hard at that.

I was in the same boat as you. It's so hard to get hired for anything when you have no experience, because why should they choose you, honestly? I always knew I would be a great worker once someone took a chance on me, but I would never even get an interview to try to get that across, not even jobs I feel like anyone could get. I never ever got a callback for like a year. My first interview I got, I got the job. I have a really nice boss who was willing to take a chance on me despite my lack of experience. I have terrible social anxiety, but the way I temporarily get through it is to... pretend like I'm outgoing I guess? The way I see it, the interviewer has no idea I'm so awkward and socially terrible, so I try to fake it. My boss could still tell I was nervous but he said I interviewed extremely well. I also took a really good business class where we pretty much spent three weeks on conducting interviews and being interviewed, and that helped. Maybe have friends give you mock interviews?

Just try not to get too down on yourself. It's a tough time for jobs and a lot of it is luck. I used to feel so bad going to places where I didn't even get an interview, and I would see the... interesting people they hired instead and I took it really personally. It's mostly luck and connections tbh.

I'm one of those people who rehearses phone calls before making them too! Haha.

Anyway, I'm sixteen and just got a job after looking for a good six months. Despite having a fine application and basically constant availability, yeah, it took about six months. Apply everywhere. A lot of it probably isn't even your fault; the job market sucks right now.

In the meantime, consider other means of earning money - selling stuff on Amazon/eBay, setting up your own mini-business (I did a lot of yardwork before getting an official job), etc.

I don't know how helpful that is... if you want to talk more just quote or PM me and I'd love to have a more in-depth conversation. Just know that I'm a pretty intense and shy introvert and I'm getting out in this world, so I bet you can do it too.

I talk to people at bars about being jobless and they find jobs for me. I know that sounds insane, but it's worked 3 times now. I haven't been jobless more than 2 weeks since I was 16 now

What's on your resume? You say it's so great but it hasn't worked. Just wondering.

Yeah if you haven't found a job in four years you either need to lower your standards or you aren't as good as you think you are

I went to a career counselor at my collge to help me with a resume, FYI. The counselor said it look good, we fixed it to look more professional. So its not like I think of it was "great" or anything when it's really not. But I have my education on there, work and volunteer experience, computer skills. I've had employers that even said I had a good resume. They seem to just think I don't have the "skills" to fit their position. Which to me doesn't make sense because all the "skills" that go for any job are basically customer service and cash handling experince, which I have a lot of. people whom have no work experince whatsoever get hired over me. I just don't get it.

Im not like applying at anything "high end" I apply at places where high school kids/collge kids work. Some type of "first job" place. Ive been told before that im a good employee. I even applied to be a dishwasher at a grocery store. Couldn't even get that job. I think that's kinda a low standard...I'm probably not good looking enough because I can't think of anything else wrong.

List the education, work, computer skills and volunteer experience you've had. I think you're just overestimating your resume. Everyone does it but if you claim that people with no experience get hired over you I'm betting that you're not telling us the full story in regards to your end.

Do you have a lot of availability? Weird, that sucks :\. This is why I've stayed with the same shitty job for 4 years, I got it because my neighbor is the manager of one of our other grocery stores in the state, so I just wrote his name on my resume. Probably would struggle finding anything better. I got hired at American Eagle last year though, but they didn't schedule me for 2 months and then they got pissed when I didn't show up when the first time they scheduled me since being hired was on my fucking birthday when I went home from school. Who expects an employee to check their schedule every week when you hire them and don't schedule for over a month?

I do have all that listed on there. And people with no work experince do get hired over me. Maybe not all the time, but I've been to places that I've applied and got rejected, come back and there will be some new 16 year old working. And what do you mean by my full story in regards to my end. I haven't left anything that I've done to try to find a job out...
