It'll be a glorious day when the word "twinkle" is stricken from the records along with the term "skramz." On Innards second LP, I've Lost Everything, they've brought the nails to the coffin. Combining a love of The Smiths and Pavement intertwined with brash vocals and an Orchid tendency to get to the point, the album is one of the most unique roads I've seen a band navigate in some time. what does twinkle even mean in "music terms" (if anything), i've never heard it used?
It's used to describe the sound of the tapping/sliding with bright, (usually) clean-ish guitar tone. People started using terms like twinkle-emo and twinkle daddies to describe bands that utilize that kind of sound in their guitars.
If anyone likes Innards, they should check out Father Figure as well. Featuring members of Innards and their labelmates Two Knights. Sounds pretty much like Innards, and I've listened to it quite a bit this year.
The difference being that "twinkle" is an actual word whereas "skramz" is not. There's no reason that "twinkle" should not be used when talking about sights and sounds that evoke the sensation. If anything there should be more synesthetic description coming from the average individual on the internet. But adding "daddies" is just ridiculous and an example of people taking, what started as an inside joke (like "skramz" and "emo violence" before it), too far.
