It's about time these guys got a thread. They are definitely one of better bands going around in Australia at the moment and their recent album sunshine and technology has been on repeat lately for me. Any other fans out there?

YES! The Smith Street Band are the best band I discovered last year. No One Gets Lost Anymore is a great album and Sunshine is an instant classic. This band deserves love on an international level.

I couldn't even give a RIYL, it's just amazing.

Caught them supporting Frank Turner earlier this year - such a great band, really into the new record.

They are just starting to get that international recognition - they are playing the fest this year in Gainesville. I wouldn't be surprised if they blow up after that. Bummed I couldn't go to their show/album launch in Sydney the other night. Working two jobs plus uni = no life.

RIYL folky punk or thick manly Australian accents?

That's awesome for them! I really hope they do blow up. I just missed their Perth shows so I'll have to wait for them to come back around.

That's possibly the closest you could get to an RIYL haha.

They are supporting Lagwagon when they tour Australia in December which is absolutely awesome. You would be crazy to miss that!

Haha I know yet it still doesn't even come close to accurately describing them.

Anyone else here go to the Restorations show that they jumped on to tonight at Blackwire Records? Only $10 & even sick and playing with messed up equipment they put on a great show. I really hope that they do get some of the international recognition they deserve.
