Re: the huge paragraph conversation above -- I go to a film school and I'm pretty much constantly surrounded by a highly cinema-focused group of people and I've still seen mixed feelings about the movie. I personally loved it and a lot of people did, but its an intentionally challenging movie, and trying to pass it off like its the easy or obvious "consensus" choice is just silly. Everyone knew going into the award season, including all the critics that enjoyed it, that it was waaaay too polarizing to even have a shot at taking home Best Picture. I would of loved to see it snag a nomination, but. Come on.
