Rules for Chat

- Be respectful. Don't be afraid to ask him tough questions, but make sure that you are not crossing any boundaries of any sort. If you have any hesitations about posting a certain question, odds are you shouldn't post it. Disrespect will not be tolerated and will be met with a deleted post and a ban.
- Double, triple, and quadruple posts will be deleted, along with posts that are overly modified to get his attention. No extra formatting is needed; I'm sure he can read just as well as, if not better than, most of us.
- If he doesn't answer your question, feel free to ask another.
- This is not a way to ask him for favors, to ask them if he'll sign your band or visit you at your house. While I'm sure he'd absolutely love to, try not to hassle him too much.

How did you get your start in the industry? I'm only 16 but I already know I want to have my own record company / work in the music industry. What are your suggestions about what I can do now?

Well, first i would say research what you are about to get into. For me it was more interesting to see what peopl/companies did wrong instead of success stories. Find out what facet exactly you want to do in the Record Industry. Cd sales may be down, but merchandising, touring, managing, booking, and digital distribution is on the rise. Music will never go away, so just figure out how you fit into the puzzle. This might sound very general, but if you have another part this question, I'd love to elaborate.

How is your label combating the problem of illegal file sharing? Do you plan on offering anything to counteract this like Trustkill has attempted?

How do you feel about 360 deals? Would you ever consider using them? Do you use them now?

Do bands' tour managers have contracts with the label the band is on?
Or does he/she just travel along?
For someone considering doing a summer tour perhaps w/a local band instead of heading STRAIGHT to college, would it be wise [or safe]...since I assume they don't get paid minimum wage if that at all?
Thanks!

Do you think people should major in music business? I'm hearing a lot of different things about this, so what do you think about it?

What do you think the industry will be like 10 years from now?
Do you think music will eventually become solely digital?
And as a music industry minor, what would you suggest I do/where should I look for internships first?

The majority of the Tragic Hero roster are harder bands, but there is some diversity with bands like Yearling, Boxbomb and The Morning Of. Is there any style of music you wouldn't sign?
