I haven't checked out any of these bands. My idea of what "emo" means is Texas Is the Reason, Braid, early Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Christie Front Drive, The Promise Ring, Jawbreaker/Jets to Brazil, etc. Would I like anything in this thread?

you'd like everything mentioned in this thread, honestly.

also, you didn't mention American Football, and that is just unforgivable.

Oops. Yeah my bad, OBVIOUSLY they fall in that category too haha. I literally sat staring at my computer screen for like a minute trying to figure what emo band I was obviously forgetting. Mornings suck.

These first two started it for me:
Not to spilt hairs here, but I don't think anything by either of the brothers Kinsella would really rightfully be considered part of the "revival" that this thread is about, seeing as they were instrumental in starting/defining the first movement through Cap'n Jazz and its various off-shoots (American Football, The Promise Ring, Joan of Arc, Owen, etc.)

Wish there were some newer bands that took more from stuff like elliott (u.s. songs / false cathedrals era)... most of the emo revival was super cool when it first came out..but now .. a lot of it sounds the same and uninspiring.

Elliott is magnificient. I am listening to Drive on to Me right no.

On another note, You Blew It! is good and I want so badly to like Empire! Empire! but god, the vocals...

Check out Frontier(s)--same lead singer as Elliott!

They're both local bands for me, so I like repping them around here haha.
