Austin has a variety of music venues. Great restaurants and generally nice people. Location wise you probably wouldn't want to live in Northeast Austin (end of the year murders (not nice) is always concentrated in that area) or the Eastside ( heavy drug activity). Central, Southwest is decent. West west if you're really ballin'. Homes are constantly being built or flipped all over. Along with the ridiculous amount of condos being built near downtown Austin. So finding a place shouldn't be too hard just the location is important. I think the air quality is quite poor in my opinion. Especially downtown. You know Texas so the humidity can be quite awful. What i dislike the most about Austin is the allergy season, the homeless/transits/austin hippies (yes they're one in the same) that crowd the downtown area. I haven't been to a show where someone isn't begging for money, scalping tickets or talking about Ghostland Observatory. Traffic eh...ride a bike it's trendy :p

I personally like the weather here, though. Music scene is great. Beautiful city.
