If I played anything other than Squirtle to start, I always used Lapras until I got a Dewgong. Ice Beam is just fantastic.

Lapras is one the best physical tanks to me. A Curse set with Avalanche, Waterfall, and Rest, yo.

so what do you guys think:

Surf
Ice Beam
Rest
Sleep Talk

or

Surf
Ice Beam
Sunny Day
Solarbeam

one makes it more powerful an attacker and gives it a huge edge over other water types, the other makes it way harder than it already is to take down. obviously Hydro Pump will replace Surf later

It's already a tank so I'd go with option #2

lol i understand that but why not just use thunder and have rain dance which would boost the surf instead of weaken it as well as give thunder 100% accuracy?

Take out bulky waters. Either one works.

Weather moves are usually a waste of a move slot.

Hydro Pump has too low accuracy for me to consider it over something like Waterfall or Surf.

No, he said Rain Dance gives Thunder 100% accuracy, which it does

it would only be for fighting other water pokemon. the only things water moves are weak against, is grass pokemon and other water pokemon. Lapras already can have an edge on Grass because it's an Ice hybrid and packs a strong ass ice beam, so if i give it an edge over water too i can literally have no trouble beating any pokemon type with Lapras.

so if i use Sunny Day, yes it weakens Lapras's water moves. but it also weakens the other water pokemon's moves. yet while that pokemon probably still has to use its shitty water move to attack me, i can just use solarbeam, so i'm weakening their move AND using a powerful move that is also super effective, without having to wait two turns for it to strike.

besides, i already taught my Magneton Rain Dance and Thunder.

dude Thunder literally can not miss with Rain Dance. that's vital to electric pokemon because Thunder is really inaccurate and a lot of times you need that move to take down water pokemon (like Lapras, or Dewgong, or anything else with the defenses to handle most Thunderbolts). Solarbeam takes two turns without Sunny Day so you can do twice as much damage with it.

Wait, but why would you need the lapras JUST for fighting other water pokemon? :o? If you have magneton then that's kind of useless. I'd go with the rain dance/thunder so you still can pack an even better STAB Surf :)

I guess i should start my Platinum Run by the way.
