I'd say III >>> I > II with IV and V not being good enough to even grace my ranking with 4th and 5th place. III just has near infinite re-playability for me.

all the first 3 generations are like that. ive beaten Blue so many times that ive had almost every pokemon in my final team at least once, and nowadays its like, i beat 3, then i play 2 and beat that, then i go back... its easy to switch back and forth and they never get old.

That is literally exactly what I do just replace Blue with Red. Always been partial to Red.

i think part of what makes Gen 3 so hard is the fact that Gym Leaders and Elite Four trainers really accounted for their weaknesses well. i cant think of many examples, but one that stood out to me is i always used to forget about Altaria when i fought the Flying-type trainer. you think you're golden if you just use an electric pokemon, and then not only does she have a part-dragon who is more resistant to electric moves, but it also knows Earthquake. total wtf moment the first couple times i played through Ruby.
this was one thing I really liked about it though.

I get not liking it, but saying it's worse than five and four? Everyone is entitled to their opinions but really? Worse than four?

no i know, that's what i'm saying. Gens 1 and 2 were hard when i first started playing them but now when i play through them, i like never lose, beat the elite four and all the gym leaders on my first try, etc. Gen 3 is the first one that poses a challenge every time you play it and thats what makes it the best pokemon generation to me

Yeah, might be just a case of bad memory but I never really enjoyed them all that much, in terms of gameplay and the new pokemon and I haven't replayed it since because I wasn't a big fan then. It's been a while since I've played four as well but from what I remember I thought it was better than three, can't think of any thing too bad about it. and I've been playing 5 recently and that's pretty good. So I'm just basing my opinion on memories so take it for what it is..

Yeah, I got that you meant it was a positive, I just meant for me, as someone who didn't like them much, that was one thing I really did like.

Weird. Generation III had I believe no pokemon I disliked. Whereas Gen 4 had 5 I didn't dislike. Gen 5 is just a slightly improved Gen 4. The pokemon are getting farther away from pokemon and closer to being just unusually colored animals.

some of the Pokemon in 4 make me think of Yu-Gi-Oh characters. its like bitch, you gotta appeal to your old school fans too! a few of the 20 somethings who played the first games still play!

I can definitely see that.
I know right? They seemed to try and do that with Gen 5 but I think they failed. Although I know plenty of people who grew up with the games who enjoyed 5. Although I don't know of a single person who grew up playing that lists 4 or 5 higher than 1, 2, or 3.

Bingo. I don't really like any Pokemon newer than Gen II because of this. The pokemon just get worse and worse.

How is Arbok not an oddly colored animal?
