[Every Time I Ty]

Woah I fell way behind on this. I just did Chad Perrone cause he was the near the top. The Averi songs were way too cutesy for me. His solo songs did pick things up a little but he feels bland for my tastes. The Walking Dead was my highlight of that mix especially towards the end.

Also used to be pretty big on Alexisonfire but I felt a little let down with Old Crows because I felt George got seriously underplayed on that album so I kind of lost interest. I downloaded out of curiousity to see what was picked. I absolutely agree with The Northern and Rough Hands, brilliant songs. I had never heard any of that latest ep. Glad I heard Dogs Blood, solid track. No Transistory would be a must have for me. One of the first songs where screaming seemed tolerable to me. I owe a lot to that song.

The Hanks - These guys make pretty solid pop rock. Remind me a lot of Motion City Soundtrack or Ludo. Luggage vs. Baggage is a little too sappy and melodramatic for me but the rest of the mix is pretty solid. Loved the hell out of the tracks on Distance, especially the first and last tracks, damn they were good. Might check out that album now. Does anyone have any idea where I can find it?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's $6 on iTunes. Damn that's a steal.

Hey man, thanks for listening, even though you didn't dig it. One man's bland can be another man's treasure, and that's certainly the case here between us. I think Chad is one of the best singers in the industry, and I gravitate to his kind of personal, diaristic songwriting, but I get that that's not everyone's cup of tea. I am curious what you mean by "cutesy" though. That's definitely not a word I would use to describe those songs, especially something as raw and emotionally bare as "Goodnight, Goodbye."

It's not him it's me really, there's just so many sappy ballads out there they never really stand out until it's by a band I've already connected with.

Rolo Tomassi:

Not a fan of the rough parts at all in the first song. The quiet part in "Tongue and Chic" is really cool, with that synth and guitar...at least i think it's synth and guitar. All the beeping and booping is super cool.Haven't heard anything like that. Really weird/cool that Diplo produced this album, crazy shit. Female vocals are fantastic too. Really loving Cosmology though, really "epic" sounding throughout, great buildup. the songs on the s/t i liked a lot better, some really cool parts there. I just don't listen to a lot of this anymore, may possibly listen to s/t again though since i fairly enjoyed those tracks.

Liking the cinematic feel in a lot of these tracks, especially the intro to Bachelorette. Actually, all of Bachelorette is pretty killer. She goes pretty hard on Pagan Poetry as well. The "I love him" part is intense as hell, especially when the instrumentation comes in quietly and has those louder bursts. Everything else is cool, nothing I hate, but nothing I really love.

Really surprised how much I'm not liking this first song "Unsatisfied". The repetition is really bothering me and there really isn't much drawing me in. Liking Alex Chilton far more though. Like the melodies far more, and the vocals aren't bothering me as much. Other songs are about the same as Chilton, really like the trumpets in Can't Hardly Wait though. Acoustic track is my favorite I think.

Seriously though, as I've said x33245231 times in this thread, "Here Comes a Regular" was the first song I loved by them so I totally get that. Even though FOR SOME REASON you didn't like "Unsatisfied," still check out a couple of their albums and report back, k?

Gotcha. I'm really just a ballad kind of guy, but I understand that not everyone cares so much for that kind of thing. That particular song really strikes a personal chord with me lyrically though, and like I said, I think Chad is very nearly peerless as a vocalist, at least in the genre he exists in.

I rather enjoyed The Mansions and The Antlers . Not much else to say about them really except they're good lol. My highlights being Close that Door and Bear respectivly. Anyone else find The Antlers vocalist slightly creepy sounding?
