$5,000 for them to play a show for you within a 100 miles. Geez, how generous. Some people commute 100 miles a day everyday for work.

Yes, they really do. That's the lowball number to get by with a good producer and engineer.

They usually don't bring hundreds of pounds of gear with them in a van, though.

Hey, MSI thinks they cost ten times as much. I guess there's always another expense you could run into to make the album better.

I still, to this day, don't understand bands asking for handouts. ESPECIALLY bands that already have a following. Do. It. Yourself.

Don't see how this is a handout. You pay, they give you stuff. Sounds startlingly like business.

Eh, still. Get your own music recorded. Go to a smaller producer, work, save money, send your shit out there and get yourself signed to a label. Don't tell your fans you need 15 grand to be a working, touring, recording band. It's BS. I've had friends be on tour and record albums with close to nothing left.

These guys are already somewhat popular and already have released music.

I know bands that put every dollar they can and bit of energy they have into giving people what they want. It costs so much money to tour. Being on the road, gas out the fucking ass getting around, eating, have a place to sleep if you're not sleeping in the van, buying merch, paying bills at the same time, ect ect. And most of the time, people just get a bands music for free. Unless you're in a bigger band, playing shows where you don't have a following exactly, guarantees for playing can be less than $200. It's not a luxurious life as one would think being in a band trying to make it by. If you don't understand how it works, don't speak nonsense.
