Kyle Huntington This Year All I seem to have read or heard from the majority of people I talk to about the year 2012 with regards to music is that they were pretty disappointed by it, or that there weren't many albums they loved...at least not compared to last year or another recent one. I don't think my thoughts could be any more of a polar opposite, I feel spoiled for choice this year and across so many genres too. My Top 30 albums this year feel suitably varied and spacious and that's with only just about keeping up with releases. There are so many more lesser-known acts that I just didn't get around to delving into, something that will be sorted out as soon as 2013 chimes in.
This list includes my top albums of the year and a list of some my favourite songs, music videos, most anticipated for 2013 and because I tend to binge a lot on TV shows once they are totally finished (or at least once a season is fully finished, rather than watching week-by-week) I have included lists of movies and TV shows that I have just enjoyed this year regardless of when they were released.
Thank you to all industry folk, particularly the guys at Beggars Group, Stay Loose, Big Hassle and Mom + Pop this year. All of the staff and all of the users who have provided such great chats and recommendations.
Happy New Year.

Haven't heard the Graham Coxon or Jessie Ware albums yet, so I'm downloading them now, and the rest of your top 10 is great!

Wow, what a list. Least surprising #1 album of any staffer's list this year haha. Really happy to see Tame Impala and Jessie Ware getting some love, both those records are fantastic.
For some strange reason I haven't listened to Graham Coxon's new album yet, guess I'll be getting on that soon!

Beautiful list.. The most anticipated list is almost the exact same as mine.

What'd you think of The Vaccines' second record? I just got my hands on it, it seems less catchy on the surface but I'm liking it so far.
Also, have you heard of Jonquil? Are they known at all in the UK?

The best staff list here. Glad that the Maccabees made it on top.

Best list I've read so far! Love seeing The Maccabees in the #1 slot. Awesome, to see First Aid Kit on a list too! - They were one of my top albums this year without a doubt

Thanks a lot, all!

Yeah I know Jonquil, not huge here but I adore a few of their songs. "Parasol" always ends up on repeat for me. As for The Vaccines record it just didn't connect with me at all like the debut did at the time.
