Ugh, I hate seeing people war over each others' tastes in music. I like what I like, and others may not like what I like. Cool with me, not going to change my library. I know I just joined this place, but I came here in search of a place to discuss my passion for music with other music lovers, and perhaps find some friends who share my tastes.

That being said, I wouldn't call this the BEST song of the year. Trying to choose a best song out of all the different songs amongst different genres is far too difficult for me. This is, however, one of MY OWN PERSONAL favorites of 2012. (emphasis on my own personal.)

people are so afraid of defending their favorite music. "i like what i like leave me alone" is boring, this a forum built around the discussion of music, and more often than not the best, most critical music analysis comes from people disagreeing.

this is for that guy that tried posting a "djent" band

I agree, and I'm open to any feedback. I'm interested in what other people think about the music I listen to. I'm simply stating that it's not going to change the fact that I like it. However, there's a difference between offering critical music analysis and simply saying "that band is garbage." So far in this thread I'm seeing a whole lot of personal opinions / flaming, and not a lot of analysis or discussion.

It doesn't really bother me, it's something I've sort of come to expect to see on music discussion boards. I still don't like it, but I accept that it's going to be a constant thing. However, I know there are at least a few people out there who share my views, and that makes it worthwile. =)

I'll just put my favorite artists out there, y'all can say what you want. =)

(no particular order)

-Streetlight Manifesto
-Protest the Hero
-Nightwish (old Nightwish, when they still had Tarja.)
-Memphis May Fire
-old Linkin Park
-God Is An Astronaut
-Muse
-Periphery
-After the Burial
-Eminem
-old Disturbed
-Killswitch Engage (when Howard was vocalist.)
-old Woe, is Me
-Jonny Craig & old Dance Gavin Dance
-Hands Like Houses
-This or the Apocalypse
-Coldplay
-Biggie
-Bone Thugz
-Born of Osiris

No opinions on Protest the Hero or God is an Astronaut?

If I absolutely HAD to choose an all-time favorite, it would definitely be Streetlight Manifesto with Protest the Hero coming in at a close second.
