Canes lineup seems pretty set.

Boychuk - E. Staal - Semin
Skinner- J. Staal - Dalpe
Tlusty - Jokinen - LaRose
Westgarth - Brent - Dwyer

Gleason - Corvo
Pitkanen - Faulk
Harrison/Sanguinetti - McBain/Murphy

Edit: The guys bolded could all switch spots throughout the year. Tlusty had some good chemistry with E. Staal last year, and ever since Boychuk was called out for lack of effort, he's been giving 110%, so that energy might be useful on the third line. I was at the last two practices, and it looks like Harrison - Sanguinetti should be starting together on Saturday.

Muller said they are undecided on where to play Boychuk, but he could stay in the top-six. Dalpe is definitely staying in the top-six, though. I'm glad Muller is giving the younger players a shot right off the bat instead of plugging them on the fourth line like Maurice did.

Especially with Ruutu out for the season, Muller is more than willing to give the young guys a shot. Unlike Mo, Kirk won't pick favorites, so he'll take the group of guys that will get the job done. He'll have no problem keeping Harrison or McBain out if Sanguinetti continues to outperform them. I went to today's and yesterday's practices, and Boychuk doesn't look out of place at all on the first line. I personally think Dalpe ends up on the first line, but only because his game will benefit Eric and Alex more than Boychuk's would.

LaRose - Jokinen - Tlusty

No word on the 4th line yet but Ruutu being out definitely hurts us.

Pitkanen, Faulk, Gleason, Harrison, Corvo, and McBain will be our top 6 defenders, just not sure how they'll be paired. And no word on the 7th Dman, however I think it could be Bobby Sanguinetti.

Don't be surprised if Bobby beats of McBain for the 6th Dman spot. It looked like the forward lines were settled, but Welsh just got called up. I think the idea might be to move Jussi up to Boychuk's spot and have Welsh centering Boychuk and Tlusty. If that's the case Kirk must have a lot of confidence in Welsh, which excites me due to the fact that I believe he's definitely our future 3rd line center. Fourth line will be Westgarth, Brent, and Dwyer. Has been for most of the week.

Where would that put LaRose?

Ah, forgot about him. Listening to Muller's post practice audio from today, he says third line will be Jussi, Tlusty, and LaRose as it's been all week. That leaves Bowman, Welsh, Westgarth, Dwyer, and Brent all fighting for fourth line spots. I'll be relatively comfortable with however that combination pans out. Kirk also said he wont hesitate to move Bowman up to a top 6 spot if either Dalpe or Boychuk struggles. What I've seen from both of them this week leads me to believe they'll grab this opportunity with both hands.

I like Jussi on the 3rd because it a spreads out our guys a little bit.

Yep. Gives us the necessary experience needed for a third line.

Edit: Where are you sitting for the opening game?

I'm 5th row of upper deck at center ice. I think it's section 324.

Not bad. We were going to try and get lower bowl tickets, but seeing as they sold out so quickly, they didn't have 6 in a row available anywhere besides 320.

Yeah I had to get mine on stub hub. They have standing room tickets half off. I don't think those are sold out yet.

We finally got to a ticket window at like 10:45 on Wednesday and there wasn't much left at all. Website crashed at like 10:02 haha. 70 bucks for a jersey wasn't bad, that's for sure. Training camp open to the public was nice as well. $1 concessions will be good, free ticket to the next game is awesome.

I can't decide which jersey to get. Jussi is my favorite but I kinda want a J Staal jersey.

J Staal jerseys are out until like mid February I think. I think season ticket holders had a head start on the 50% off deal and those sold out in like thirty minutes.

Bowman is on the top line now and Boychuk has been bumped to the fourth line according to Chip. Not terribly surprising since Bowman had a great game and Boychuk did nothing offensively. Dalpe also may not play tonight because of an illness.

I think Dalpe will probably miss this game, Bowman on the top line with Boychuk taking Dalpe's spot. Westgarth taking Bowman's.

Maybe I'm just frustrated, but I think the refs killed the game in Carolina tonight. We had all the momentum after Skinner's goal, but a couple bad calls against us, and a few missed ones against Tampa, and as soon as you know it, it's 4-1. At least it only took 2 goals this time for us to wake up. Special teams looked great after the first period. It's a shame it took them 80 minutes to figure out that Staal, Staal, Skinner, Semin, and Faulk should be the first PP unit.

Or they can take Sanguinetti out of the lineup and replace him with McBain, which is probably what they will do.

They will likely trade for a PK specialist if they keep struggling there, though.

I don't think there's a problem on the PK, it's just a general problem with the slow starts, general toughness, and lazy passes in our defensive zone. PK looked great after the first last night.

The PK was a disaster against Florida, but it was good last night. The problem was that the Canes couldn't stay out of the box. They were very much in the game until the third period but were playing shorthanded way too much and were tired. Carolina really could use another stay-at-home defenseman, though. Faulk and Gleason can't do it all.

Absolutely. Any out there that you can think of who we could trade for, and could get the job done?
