I like the release model:
For people who want to digest over time, they can.
For people who want to consume all at once, they can.
It's not like MCR is touring and you're being force-fed these songs in a live environment. If you want to put on MCR blinders from November through January and simply wait for the full-length, then go for it. If you want to follow along, then go for it.
Plus, MCR has a mainstream fan base, so they can really milk the cow here. It's been awhile since they were American pop stars, so I'm not sure how many thirteen year old girls are still using daddy's money to buy everything the band puts out, but there is enough fanbase in tact that will buy these, buy the full-length, buy the eventual deluxe, the reissue, etc.
Except I don't think there's even going to be a full length in a traditional sense and there certainly won't be a deluxe/reissue. This is it, they're just putting out some old songs while they work on the next album.
