The album is good on its own, but if you loved their older stuff this might be harder to get into.

Exactly. A lot of people said the same thing about The Orchard compared to The Rhumb Line, but Beta Love compared to those two albums is like night and day. I personally think this album is a much weaker, repetitive turn for them, but the song "Beta Love" could make them this year's fun. or Foster the People.

I could understand that people take that position. I know it is way poppier and not as deep lyrically but it sounds good to me.

Still 3 for 3 for me (I dont really count the first ep). Yeah this album is poppy but it's still ra ra. I will always love this band.

Downloaded this last week on a wim. Never heard their previous two. The albums super top heavy I found. Starts off on fire and then gets VERY repetitive. Probably played it through a good 5 times now. A solid 6.5/10. Guys voice gets a bit too shrill at times. Easy comparison is Passion Pit but not nearly as interesting musically, and I don't even find Passion Pit too interesting.

I'll see them live in June, I'd imagine it'd be a fun show
