I'm not a big Brand New fanboy, but I actually really enjoy this.
Is his inflection about eight levels over the top? Sure - but I do actually like it quite a bit.
Also, love the instrumentation and production on this.
Good to see something other than serious hate for this track

This whole project is wildly over-the-top, and I think that's the point. Andrew Accardi is the creative center of the whole thing, so anyone who knows Robbers is entirely unsurprised by a project like this hahah

I enjoy it a lot.

I didn't expect people to love this, but I am surprised by the overwhelming amount of hate. holy hell. i guess with this amount of hype surrounding this, it will never be good enough. the vocals are pretty balls, but I love everything else about this!
There's a bad attitude that a certain sect of this site has had since the very beginning of the viral marketing campaign. A large amount of the hate (not all of it, but a good portion) comes from people who will just invariably shit on this project.

This music (and the story/concept of the album that's been discerned through the campaign) is all really weird, and the comparison someone made earlier to "Modest Mouse and The Cure thrown in a blender" isn't really inaccurate... the difference is that if Modest Mouse released this album and these songs, it would be something a lot of the haters would be able to groove to. This is a new band, and on top of that it's a group that had the audacity to pursue a really ambitious viral campaign... that probably seems arrogant to a lot of people.

Or the music is just shit. Seriously you take everything far too personally.
lol really?

I've just taken note of the fact that the most consistent and strongly worded criticism of the music has come from people who openly trolled the fact that the campaigned gained steam quickly, before there was any substance to judge other than the group's popularity.

I don't need those people to like the music I like, because there are more than enough people who do. I'm not entirely sure why you think me explaining a concept that I could easily prove with quotes (if I had the free hours to sift through that massive Shone thread) equates to me taking those people "too personally."

The same way you can basely judge the music as straight-up terrible, I can judge some of the people hating on it as basing their own judgments off something other than the music itself.

Do you seriously need to reply to every single post with a fucking novel? You're taking the criticism too personally and every time you reply you're just making it worse on yourself. Just let it fucking go. People don't like it, they will say they won't like it and people like you will reply like you always do and it gives them a kick.
You realize all those things apply in the other direction, don't you? I'm chilling in my dining hall before a meeting, reading the thread, and writing what I think. If you don't like it, you'll say it. I disagree, so I'll say it. You get a kick out of me, I get a kick out of you. The only difference is that I'm not the one telling anyone that they can't..

Edit - I'm sorry if me being verbose is a problem for you. I invite you to block me so you don't have to see my terrible posts.

You're completely missing the point but OK.

It might have something to do with your point relying on me to care what you think in order to be valid.

Well this project didn't turn out the way I had hoped.
Unfortunately, the rest of the album doesn't offer much for people who haven't liked the first few tracks. Last night during the listening party I was kinda hoping for something markedly diverse, but it's pretty cohesive in terms of the overall sound of the record.

Well, here's my issue... I LOVE piano wire, but I really dislike this one. I'm still pumped for the album. Will I be ok?
If you hate this one because it's weird, the album is probably a toss-up hahah -- people talk about Andrew Accardi like he's really out-there and eccentric when it comes to his creative process, and the record definitely shows that.

If I had to guess more specifically, I think Piano Wire would be your favorite or 2nd-favorite track.

Well, I know I'm not willing to dismiss the whole thing because I dislike one song. I still feel like seeing piano wire live would be epic.
i honestly think baby shakes would be better live too. it just seems like it would be a fun song to rock out too
If this band has half the energy and wild demeanor that Robbers does, even their worst tracks will be easy to rock out to.

Hoping for a tour to follow that May7 show

It sounds like the Count from Sesame Street with Cookie Monster helping out on gang vocals.

Can't believe I missed this on my first read through the thread. Pretty spot on

By the way guys, the full album is posted on my Soundcloud... I forgot to post it here and in the SHONE thread in General, but if anyone feels like burning about 30 minutes so they can hear the whole thing and shit on it or enjoy it as a cohesive unit, here's the link - https://soundcloud.com/aakash-abbi/heat-thing-complete

It starts about halfway through Piano Wire, which is Track1
