10:21 AM on 02/08/13 | I generally agree with your feelings on the record, except "I'll Be There." I think that's the best song Broadway Calls has ever written. |
Yeah, I absolutely love the chorus on that song.
honestly, I don't like this nearly as much as Good Views Bad News, but that's just after one listen. "Open Letter" and "Lucky Lighter" are pretty awesome though |
Same, except I've listened to it about 7 times at this point. It's a good record, but I feel like there's still a little something missing.

10:49 AM on 02/08/13 | has been here longer than you There are so many good songs on this record!

02:06 PM on 02/08/13 | Disagree on Stealing Sailboats. I played it 70 times in three days. Easily my favorite song by them to date.
Great review though. | | |

03:41 AM on 02/10/13 | listened to a few times and wasn't impressed. Maybe it's a grower, I'll give it some more spins.

01:02 PM on 02/13/13 | Next Show:GaslightAnthem/HoldSteady This is their best work, but still easy to file under boring / uninspiring / generic / etc. I'd lump them in with Polar Bear Club, The Wonder Years, etc, in that they are bands that are by no means bad, but also not an essential listen.
There are handfuls of bands doing this style much better.
(Obligatory "this is my opinion" comment, because idiots have a tendency to get butthurt when others express their own negative thoughts on something they personally have a positive opinion on.)

I don't find this album to be all that generic, as I touched on. Think it has a whole lot more uniqueness to it than Wonder Years.

We're definitely not on the same page with this one :)
For example, "Zombie World" was something I found more interesting -- it tries out some fairly unique ideas. I'd probably catch these guys on a Warped Tour-type thing, I somehow picture their live show with a lot more energy than they muster up on this record.

03:07 PM on 02/13/13 | Good call on the GD influence. I've only heard one song so far due to the previous poster, but "Zombie World" has a very "Brain Stew" rhythm to the verses. His voice is also drawing from Billie in ways too.

wow. The fact that you don't find those bands as essential listens tells me you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Have you even't heard "Sometimes Things Just Disappear?"
Although I wouldn't exactly classify this as an essential listen either, but the best one these guys have put out by far.
