This is really good. Seems like the band is reconnecting with their roots while still maturing with their songwriting.

I agree but this seems pretty common nowadays. I am gonna hold off listening to this though, I wanna wait til I have the album in hand to listen to anymore. 3 songs was plenty to tide me over haha.

Well, they've released two decent-to-good songs so far and two terrible ones.

I think, if you like at it as a member of the Alk3 camp, with the way albums leak coupled with the fact that this is their ninth album I'd assume they're figuring the core fans have already pre-ordered. I know their Kings Road site is sold out of tshirt/LP/EP bundle pre-orders... So...
I would think they're looking at it like this: any exposure above/beyond the folks who have pre-ordered and bought their tickets for the tour is gravy.
They're spreading out the song releases through different sites: youtube directly then Spin then Alt Press.
Probably not a bad move on their part.
