Wow. This really sounds like a huge loss to Brandon Ebel, both personally and professionally.

This would devastate me.

Saw Ebel give a talk a few weeks ago and nothing about this was mentioned. Pretty surprised.

This is pretty exciting. I'm wondering what the "re-launch" means. New direction? Maybe just a fresh start in the indie world.

actually talked with a band who just resigned with brandon after everything went down. they're pretty excited about the change and his passion to make things happen.

that's what my first thought was.

My second thought was: "Has a band even put out a really good release on this label in the last few years?"

As long as T&N start signing real bands like their 2003-2007 era.
Tired of all those "poppy nu-metal" bands that they've been signing lately.

mr tate nailed it. after sending it through the bullshit translator, what came out is SS/T&N's sales aren't strong enough to erase debt to Capital, so Capital is taking the back catalog from Ebel to chip at that debt moving forward and allowing him to do what he wants in the future. distribution relationship severed.
If this is what you think, you have no idea the insane amount of money BEC makes. My guess is Capital wanted BEC badly, and Ebel negotiated a deal to get the rest sold off along with it. Make no mistake - he profited big time on this. BEC is a gold mine by itself.

This is probably bad news for Come Now Sleep or Hell or High Water on vinyl.
Exactly what I was thinking. Bummer.

Honestly I haven't listened to many of these bands anymore but there's parts of me that is hopeful for the (unlikely) re-release of some of the harder to find albums ... Particularly Calibretto 13: From the Secret Files of the Danger Brigade

I think it will be pretty interesting what they do next. From Capitols website, says they have acquired the label- so my guess is they wanted the BEC label since that label has sold over 8+million albums with huge artists and those are the "christian" artists that are focused on stuff that Capitol Christian group does. Sad that the rest of TNN and SS had to go to them also tho....not sure what they will do with those albums. Probably a lot of comps. I would assume Ebel got a massive check from them and the parted ways holding onto the band contracts and will continue to move forward and find a different partner. Not sure why they partnered with EMI Christian music group in the first place- what did they do to help TNN over these years?
