Driving Music - Demo 2007
Record Label: None
Release Date: October 14, 2007
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Driving Music is a one man band made of singer-songwriter Fabio Andrade who additionally plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and arranges drum programming on all the tracks of his five song demo. Formerly of the pop rock band The Invisibles, whom Andrade devoted ten years of life to, he forged a solo path after the break-up of the band. His latest release Demo 2007 will keep audience members' feet tapping and singing along to the tuneful modern pop rock tracks that have a romantic penchant liken to the Goo Goo Dolls and pop-tinged punk hooks with a sweetener reflective of Cartel. The songs are well-tailored to Andrade’s vocals demonstrating his skillfulness in forming melodic lines and his ability to know what works for him.

The upbeat lift in the vocals and the rhythmic pulls of “Melody” and “Epigraph” have a pop punk compression that is lubricated by the fanned-out guitar chords, which smoothen out the movements and make any shift in the dynamics move with a sports car efficiency. The outcome becomes two tracks that are instantly pleasurable and energetic. Andrade slides into a softer tempo using coffeehouse-folk candlesticks in the tune “I Am Trying Not to Break Your Heart” which brews elements of acoustic and components of rock combed together to make gentle melodic grooves. He offers two modern pop rock tracks, “Day for Night” and “Sparkle,” which have romantic hues that infiltrate the listener’s aural senses. Imagine a romantic-rock sound joining melodic layers with a pop rock consonance and this will give you a good grasp of Andrade’s music. His lyrics also gravitate to romantic images like in “Melody” when he sings, “Oh, let’s go away, just pretend we still have time / To look for the dreams we could never really find / ‘Cause once we are ready to become the imperfections we admire / I think we’ll be happy for a while.”

Fabio Andrade’s solo project Driving Music is motivated by romantic rock waves. His latest release Demo 2007 is likable from beginning to end. He makes no wrong moves and shows complete understanding of how to touch people's senses using melodic sounding chord combinations and keeps it light in the layering.
