Especially a band with the credentials of this group.
Agreed. I'm an independent artist. I get no funding from any outside label or other source (I don't claim to sell millions but I sell a few). I saved my money and bought the equipment I needed, and invested my time. (I also have a full time job, if I can find the time they can find the time) I learned how to record, mix, master and distribute my own music.

It doesn't cost that much to record and release music these days. Granted, vinyls do cost more to produce and it is possible to put the money toward touring and marketing but Bands need to start being (or working with) better business people. Most regular businesses would have to go to a bank and be approved for a loan.

The incentives for these things are pointless too. They're just selling the music and merch in advance. Signatures are worthless. (I'll pay for Babe Ruth's autograph why would I want an unproven band's) If the album and band turn out to be good I'll buy the merch anyway.

Besides, he wasn't even a key Glassjaw member and so what if it's Thursday's drummer.

It's a free country though, people can spend their money however they want. Just my thoughts.

Stop calling vinyl records "vinyls".
Thanks for pointing that out. I can't believe I incorrectly stated the most important point in my response. What would I do without you.

wasn't a key glassjaw member? have you ever listened to glassjaw? he's one of the most distinctive guitarists in aggressive music ever. If y'all don't like it don't back it, stop complaining.
You may be thinking of Justin Beck. And I'm only one person, not a group... ya'll.

dude.... Todd was in GJ from the KKBB ep forward, he was on every significant release before they went on hiatus and IMO GJ hasn't been the same since he left. If you're not excited about the release that's cool, but give credit where credit is due.
Being on a record doesn't mean you wrote anything or you were the driving creative force. The singles EP glassjaw put out was awesome and that was all Beck and Daryl. The Coloring Book EP wasn't so great but that was kind of thrown together. Men Women & Children... not so great.

show me explicitly where it says that Beck wrote ALL the music for those releases....... to be fair I can't DISPROVE that Beck didn't write all of the music, but any linear notes that I have seen say "written by glassjaw" alluding that it was a group effort..... Their releases post W/T lack the amount of layered guitars of their previous releases........ I LOVE GJ..... They can't put out a bad song....but I do miss Todd's contribution....regardless of whether he wrote them.....

As for the singles, at least one of the songs were played live back in 03-04,...before they went on hiatus..(I know Natural Born Farmer was) and all of those songs feel a bit closer to WT than the coloring book EP..... This is completely off topic, but I wish they'd add a second guitarist live.
I'm not saying he didn't contribute, and I'm not saying a second guitarist didn't add to their sound. All I'm saying is that Beck and Daryl are still in Glassjaw while the many other members they had are not. Based on that, it leads to me to believe the dominant creative forces remain. Why else would someone leave a band they were actively creating their musical vision through? The change in production of later releases could have been due to less influence by a record label as they progressed. Either way we'll probably never see anything equaling the quality and scope of the first two albums from Glassjaw again.

Here's a band (whether you like them or not) that has worked hard, been consistent in gaining and pleasing fans, and legitimately needs funding (not to record, but for bus maintenance and touring cost). Not to mention they offer merchandise worth paying for close to retail cost.

I mean $500 bucks for life access to any show + a few other incentives with it. That's a steal.
