The new Lydia is better than Paint It Golden, but very meh in terms of what the band is capable of. They just aren't the same and aren't going to be the same without the old pieces. Oh well. That new Conditions has a couple of fantastic tracks and a handful of throwaways. New senses fail melts titties.
I was a huge huge fan of Fluorescent Youth. I dig about 3/4 of this record, but some songs never really take off like I want them to ("Skeleton," "Best Mistake," "Wonderful Life," etc) but then some songs like "Every Day Is a New Life" and "Love Elusive" are killer. Probably a 6.5-7 for me. The great songs are killer; the mediocre ones fall flat.
Ha, all the songs I think are great are the ones you don't like. Throw maybe one more into your list of "falls flat" and then everything else is a miss for me. Awesome.
I've really been listening to a lot of State Champs and Pentimento. The new Bring Me The Horizon album is still just so good. Definitely mourning the loss of Tigers Jaw (and MCR to a lesser extent, I haven't listened to them since middle school). Only In The Morning by the The Venetia Fair has been my jam along with Critical by State Champs.
Still catching up on Archer, still loving every second of it.
Getting ready for spring break and my birthday!
I've heard all kinds of good stuff about State Champs - sounds decent, but I'm not in love with the vocal. When is their new record due out?
