I appreciate this. It's truly a heartfelt thing, and he obviously believes that there was nothing for the band to do but stop now. As long as they all continue doing something creative, I'll be happy. We got great music from them in the past 12 years and great memories, and what more can I ask for as a fan?
Gonna miss these guys. Really one of those bands that got me stoked on music. As much shit they've gotten in the past, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is classic. Much better than half the shit that's coming out of the scene lately.
With honor, integrity, closure, and on no one’s terms but our own- the door closes. And another opens-
Their first 3 albums [maybe their only 3 albums] are total masterpieces and will always be among my favorite records of all times... Danger Days isn't even worth mentioning and I didn't enjoy Conventional Weapons, either. So to me it's as if MCR had stopped way back in 2008ish, and making it official now just adds that final touch. Sad to hear it, but I guess it was high time for them.
I think it's pretty clear why they broke up. He even says, I was acting. Any artist should know that when they start phoning it in, it's close to the end.
I get it, and I'm glad they decided its time to quit before they do something to drag down their reputation.
This. I don't know if everybody wants a dramatic reality show moment here or what. He clearly gave a reason. And an awesomely well-written letter. Props to him for stopping when he lost the love for it. 12 years is a pretty good run.
